Welcome to Fall Semester 2024! We would like you to know how to access Counseling Services during this time and how to find more information on self-care, coping strategies, and support resources. Here is a summary description of our services:
Counseling Services provides a broad range of counseling and mental health support services that facilitate our students' personal, social and academic development. Our licensed mental health professionals provide short term individual counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, and psychiatric services to currently enrolled students for no additional charge. Counseling services are provided in a confidential and identity affirming environment to help students address a variety of mental health, situational, and developmental concerns.
Our offices are located in the Baugher Student Center, Suite 216. Appointments can be made in person or by calling 717-361-1405. Office hours are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday. Urgent and crisis services are also available. For emergencies after 5 p.m. or over the weekend, call Campus Safety at 717-361-1111 for immediate assistance.
We encourage you all to take pro-active steps to maintain your mental, as well as physical, health. Please know that we are here to support you and to help you to successfully navigate the variety of challenges that college students face. Mental Health Awareness Day

Join us as we celebrate Mental Health Awareness Day at 欧美色情片wn College with programming throughout campus that promotes positive discussions about mental health, help-seeking behavior, self-care, and suicide prevention.
Presented through collaboration among the Suicide Prevention Alliance, Penn State Pro Wellness, Compass Mark, and 欧美色情片wn College Student Life Offices including Counseling Services, Campus Recreation and Well-Being, the Office of Civil Rights, Opportunity, and Access, and the Center for Student Success.
Keynote Speaker: Govan Martin, III, Chair/Executive Director and Founder of Suicide Prevention Alliance

As Chair/Executive Director and Founder of Suicide Prevention Alliance, aims to bring about a culture of change in how society views suicide by advocating for awareness and evidenced-based training in the prevention of suicide. Information about on-campus mental health resources for students will also be discussed as Counseling Services provides both scheduled appointments and crisis intervention.
Drug Use, the Brain, and Hope for Change presented by Ashley Denlinger and Vanessa Welker, Prevention Specialists with Compass Mark

The topic will first cover how vaping and substances like marijuana & alcohol can negatively affect the brain and subsequently one鈥檚 mental health. This will lead into a discussion of methods for instilling hope for a fulfilling, drug-free tomorrow through the development of support systems, positive alternatives, and healthy coping skills that fuel perseverance amidst challenges.

Led by master trainer and Chair/Executive Director and Founder of Suicide Prevention Alliance, Govan Martin, III, the is to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical, and proven suicide prevention training.
Cry Like a Man Panel Discussion, facilitated by Eugene Thomas, Assistant Director of the Learning Zone

Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences and find common ground through a therapeutic experience of talking about their feelings. By encouraging men to 鈥淐ry Like A Man鈥 the discussion aims to build participants' confidence in embracing feelings and raise competence about mental health, struggles, and successes, and understanding how mental health is different across groups.

Meditation Session with Dr. Jeffery Long, Professor of Religious Studies
Tuesday, Sept. 10 | 7-8 p.m. | Bowers Center Classroom
Led by Dr. Long, this relaxing session will teach you about meditation, how the practice can help reduce stress, and guide you into your own practice. Yoga mats will be provided, and participants are welcome to bring their own.
